PizzaToday we made pizza. We started by making a dough similar to the ones for the dinner rolls. (This time we made sure not to kill the yeast by putting them in luke warm water. ) Then we let them sit and rise for an hour and a half. After it was done rising we split the dough into two and roll each of them out into small pizzas. We spread on the tomato sauce and put pepperoni then put them into the oven. The Love of BakingOur next challenge was to create a baked good of our choice to give to someone we love. While our pizza dough was rising we started on macrons. We decided to try raspberry coconut macrons. The batter we made was runnier then the ones we made earlier and spread out on the sheets. Because of this they cracked in the oven and turned our bad. The coconut filling was good but we had no shells to put them in. Because our macrons turned out bad, we decided to give pizza to people we love. I gave a slice to my younger brother.

Today was Thursday. In the morning we got into groups and made Macrons. My group made
peppermint macrons, with a vanilla shell and a peppermint buttercream filling. The shells came out out of the oven and looked very nice. They had a good shape and came out with nice feet. We waited till they cooled then took them of the baking sheet and filled them with the buttercream. Our first batch came out much better then the second batch, but they all looked pretty nice when they were filled. I really enjoyed making macrons because they were more difficult then some of the other things we baked and they were something I had never baked before. While I don't really love to eat macrons, I enjoy making them, and they look very pretty when made correctly. In the afternoon we went to 86 degrees bakery. There we learned a bit about how they make their breads and then we got to try them. I tried the white milk chocolate roll, which I really liked. Today we worked on breads. In small groups we started with dinner rolls with a yeast leavener and added garlic powder into it. We made the dough first then left it to rise. Next we worked on making Madeleines's. We made the batter which then had to be chilled for an hour. Right before lunch we took it out and made one batch. Our first batch turned out good but was a little small. The next batch we added more batter into the molds, and it had more of a traditional Madeleine shape. After our Madeleines were done we worked on the bread, shaping it into little dinner rolls. Our bread did not go well. When they came out of the oven they were hard and dry. We realized this was because in the first steps we put the yeast in too hot of water and that caused the yeast to die.
We set aside two of the Madeleines we made for judging, and got second place. Today as the first day of baking intersession. We began by in groups making chocolate chip cookies with an extra ingredient each group got to choose. Our group chose espresso as our extra ingredient. The batter we found was very sticky and not as fluffy as we had hoped they would be. We made the first batch of cookies too big which caused them to stick to each other and when they were done three of them combined and the other ones were touching each other. The cookies were also very thin and sticky and at first we thought they were a little undercooked but after they cooled they seemed better. They had a strong taste of expresso which we were happy about. While they didn’t look very good, they did taste good and had a strong taste of espresso. We had split our batter into two and baked one half and chilled the other half. After lunch we did the second batch.
